Chandelles NAFION pour bains satinage / Nafion Candles & etching baths by NICOU ENVIRONMENTAL

nafion candles
FOR eTCHING BATHS

NAFION candles are used to treat and regenerate etching baths by electrodialysis.
Electrolysis is performed by the electric fields created between the electrodialysis cells and the planar electrodes.

Reoxidation modules

FOR BATH TREATMENT AND REGENERATION

The reoxidation module consists of a set of membrane electrodialysis cells immersed in an electrolysis tank fitted with planar electrodes.

The process for treating etching baths

BY ELECTRODIALYSIS

Depending on the case, the etching bath circulates in the tank or inside each electrodialysis cell. Conversely, the exchange solution (catholyte) circulates in the other compartment (cell or tank).

chromic bath

on the anodes

The degradation products are reoxidized.

If the etching batch is chromic, the trivalent chromium is oxidized to hexavalent chromium.

If the etching batch contains permanganate, the bivalent manganese is oxidized to hexavalent manganese (secondary reaction).

The electrolysis of water forms hydrogen ions and releases oxygen gas.

Cationic impuritie, Cu2+, Ni2+... pass through the membrane under the effect of electric field.

The bath fluid thus regenerated and purified returns to the etching batch

On the cathodes

The metallic cations, that are electro-depositable under the operating conditions of the module, essentially the copper, are fixed on the cathode.

The electrolysis of water reduces hydrogen ions and releases hydrogen gas.

The catholyte is regularly purged and evacuated for treatment.
